Záznam průběhu obhajoby
Q: Where is the real analytical part?
A: I had 3 texts, 1 original and 2 translations. I had to read all 3 and analyse them.
Q: You said that Urbanek tried to keep very close to the text. How did you come to this conclusion?
A: It was Skoumal. I compared it with the the original structure of the sentences.
Q: When it comes to theory you have to use theoretical backgroung. Did you?
A: I used moprhological and syntactic level of analysis as well as syntax.
Q: There are theoretical chapters on metaphors and proper names in this thesis but the issues are not discussed in the analysis. Are metaphors and proper names specific for James Joyce and thus for translation of his works?
A: Yes, I analyzed proper names. Like James Flyn and Jakub Fly.
Q: What theories did you use for the analysis?
A: Levy, Mona Bakes and others.
Q: Did you discuss the question of equivalence? How does it influence the overall level of the translation? How did you chose the examples, what criteria did you use to pick the translated
A: I was trying to find specifict examples. Some were equivalent, some were not. I was not juding which was better or worse. I had no specific reason for chosing them.
