Záznam průběhu obhajoby
Q: Kto sa kriticky venoval tvorbe J. R. R. Tolkiena v eeskej literárnej kritike a alebo v širšom stredoeurópskom priestore?
A: There are some fan groups and also authors: Tom Shippey: reviews, talks, focus groups, he is a british author.
Q: Any Czech commentators, critics?
A: I was not able to find anyone.
Q: In the title of your thesis, you use the term "Anglophone juvenile literature" but do not seem to work with the concept of juvenile literatures in the text.
Is this important? Do works for adults and works for young people work with the concept of evil in different ways?
A: I would say that in fantasy, which is an important genre for adults and for kids, fantasy provides escape and consolation
to the reader and it can be an adult or kid. Kids are able to recognize the difference between good and evil.
Q: Are you talking about fantasy or juvenile literature?
A: I was talking about fantasy. I'd say the perception of evil is the same.
Q: Literature for children and adults?
A: For adults, the evil is depicted as more scary. For children they idetify themselves with the hero.
Q: There is a trend in contemporary children's literature where evil loses its form. Where does it come from?
A: I have not thought about it.
Q: Is the ring evil or good?
A: Sauron had to put part of his soul into the ring, so it was definitely evil, because it was controlling its bearers.
